ED Unit Clerk/Secretary/Coordinator
Reporting the ED Manager the ED Unit Clerk responsibilities include transcribing physician orders, providing telephone services, including answering and directing calls, giving information and page placing.
Essential Job Duties
Additional accountabilities include responding to customer needs, i.e. obtaining charts, obtaining patient information, labs, copying. Maintaining patient census log and data in the emergency department with admissions, discharges and transfers. The Unit Clerk is responsible for ordering supplies for the unit/department. Must be able to communicate pertinent information to the RN, Clinical Supervisor, or Physician in a timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications
Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Basic knowledge of nursing care terminology and functions.
Telephone skills.
Typing and filing skills.
Knowledge of basic computer systems.
Six (6) months experience in an acute care facility required
ROP Unit Secretary Course preferred.
BLS preferred
CNA or EMT experience preferred
CPI Certification within first 90 days
