Essential functions:
- Participate in prospecting through the identification of new business targets and opportunities, collaborate closely with producer/agent to ensure department receives opportunity to offer proposal.
- Review and evaluate new and renewal business based upon company underwriting framework, guidelines, competition, and geographic focus. Develop marketing strategy.
- Review coverage requests provided by agent and determine department’s position relating to such requests within individual authority granted. Present those requests outside the individual authority to Captive Lead for approval or guidance.
- Working within the 2-heading/referral process, analyze and underwrite individual risks. Develop appropriate limits structure, retention, pricing, and endorsements.
- Manage personal book of business.
- Meet all divisional servicing objectives including but not limited to quote turnaround, policy issuance, phone management, file maintenance and documentation, etc. Maintain data integrity within the underwriting system.
- Perform required number of broker marketing calls. Solicit new accounts, gather market intelligence, and deliver up-to-date department information relating to products and services. Manage select wholesaler / broker relationships to ensure objectives are achieved.
- Continue to develop and update product and underwriting knowledge via continuing education and on0line courses.
- Maintain up-to-date familiarity with insurance market trends and product development.
- Coordinate with branch marketing representatives and profit center representatives to allow for cross marketing.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, risk and insurance, accounting, mathematics, or related field preferred
- Two plus years in E&S, Wholesale, Standard Lines underwriting, broking or Risk management
- General understanding of Captive insurance companies function and underwriting
- Strong presentation and people skills
- Established broker relationships Locally/Regionally and or the ability to build relationships in new markets
- Knowledge of GL, Property, Auto, WC and Umbrella, Excess wording and underwriting tools like ISO and IRMI, to take over and independently handle an established book of business.
