Job Description
Under the general direction of the Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for installing underground piping by cutting, fitting, and laying pipes underground. This position requires digging and grading trenches, taking elevation shots, in addition to using proper math skills to find accurate measurements for setting or cutting pipe. Additional duties include; installing saddles, cutting boxes, assisting team members, and performing other related duties as assigned by the Foreman, Superintendent, or Management Team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- MUST have a valid Driver's License
- MUST have previous experience as Pipelayer installing water lines, sanitary sewer lines, and storm drainage
- Work a full-time schedule; including overtime, Saturdays, and night shifts as necessary
- Experienced in installing concrete, clay, steel, ductile iron, plastic, corrugated pipe, and any other type of pipe
- Familiar with calculating slopes and setting laser
- Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regularly works near moving mechanical equipment and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity, as well as exposure to dust and asphalt
- Install, and set electrical boxes, hand holes, manholes, inlets, and other structures
- Lays underground communication and electrical ducts
- Pours collars, inverts, and wipes structures
- Pours thrust blocks on water lines
- Makes threaded and flanged connections
- Installs valves and other accessories
- Caulks joints
- Mixes Concrete
