Diagnostic Medical Sonographer: Under general supervision and following established procedures, operates highly technical Ultrasound equipment which produces high frequency sound to acquire images for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.
Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed high frequency sound for diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Works effectively with patients and patient's families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.
Education, Required Licenses/Certifications
- Graduate of an approved/accredited School of Ultrasound.
Must be RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Sonographer) and BLS Certification.
Work Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- 1-2 years of experience preferred
- Working knowledge of CR and PACS preferred
