This position works as a staff technologist in an advanced modality of Radiology. Under general supervision, operates nuclear medicine equipment to produce clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians, according to established standards and practices. Performs a variety of diagnostic procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.

JOB DUTIES

· Performs all routine nuclear medicine procedures, demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, technique selection, administration of radiopharmaceuticals, application of immobilization and safe radiation practices according to department policy and procedures.

· Determines appropriate isotope required and administers dosage according to protocol. Obtains patient history, reviews patient condition and records dosage administered.

· Checks consultation request for special instructions and consults with radiologist as necessary. Greets patients, confirms identification of patient and introduces self. Explains examination procedure to patient and their family, if present.

· Performs visual safety inspection, completes daily QA calibrations as required, records quality control activities, reports dangerous department or equipment conditions to appropriate personnel.

· Updates patient examination history records unusual conditions/limitations, documents exam time, room number and technical factors. Completes billing procedure and performs paperwork as applicable.

· Demonstrates age specific competencies for patients in all age groups from neonatal through geriatric.

· Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room or work station, rotation stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.

· Maintains professional acumen through active participation in technical in services, educational programs and departmental meetings.

· Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by WSMC and the Imaging Services Department.

· Actively and consistently demonstrates the Core Values of WSMC in all interactions with others.

· Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Requirements

· BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required

· Sonography Tech specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date

· Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date

· Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date

· Any specialty accepted for Radiologic Technologist issued by ARRT

· High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, associate degree, or Technical degree required
