SCHEDULE: Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 7a-7:30p, no call, rotating holiday schedule to include one major and one minor holiday each year.
JOB PURPOSE:
Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive
procedures according to established standards and practices. Provides patient services utilizing
ultrasound equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology. Provides
patient care to all age groups to include neonatal, pediatrics, adult, and geriatrics. Communicates
effectively with staff and radiologists.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an AMA approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent experience
according to Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
None.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None - Must become registered by the ARDMS within (6) months of employment. Vascular
Sonographers must become registered and/or RVT, RVS, RT(S), RT(VS) within (6) months of
employment. Licensure requirement for Breast Ultrasound can be met with registration through ARRT
(BS).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS certified.
One (1) year of experience is preferred.
Registered ARDMS and/or RVS/RVT (Registered Vascular Specialist) is desired.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures on
patients of all age groups. Positions patient, selects the correct protocol, and utilizes all required
equipment. Maintains competencies in all non-scanner related components.
2. Accurately follows all established imaging protocols for exam being performed.
3. Follows ACR and Piedmont guidelines.
4. Provides quality age specific care in accordance with prescribed standards and practices.
5. Provides patient education and communications in accordance with prescribed standards.
6. Demonstrates continued quality improvement and proficiency in all required skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Must have and demonstrate a strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
Must be able to perform quality Ultrasound examinations in accordance with all Piedmont and ACR
standards.
Must deliver SAFE care in accordance with the Always Safe program.
Must use AIDET with every encounter and be proficient with service recovery.
