DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Research
Percent Effort: 45%
Job Duties
- Utilize engineering, scientific, and mathematic principals to complete numerous tasks in designing, modeling, fabricating and assembling UAVs.
- Participate in the design, analysis and testing of electrical, software and mechanical components of UAVs, non-UAVs and mission payloads.
- Research, analyze and troubleshoot engineering designs.
- Make and record observations and measurements. Compile and analyze data, prepare data packets.
- Read and write technical documents and diagrams.
- Set up and operate apparatuses or equipment. Inspect construction/assembly to ensure conformity to project specifications.
- Design as well as assemble guiding systems, control panels, and other necessary parts/interfaces.
- Collect and/or analyze data samples.
- Conduct directed phases of research and development projects.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of reports and other publications.
- Present or assist in the presentation of research results at technical meetings or other venues.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Functional Area 2: Operations
Percent Effort: 45%
Job Duties
- Provide general engineering support for autonomous systems and other mission critical devices.
- Coordinate fabrication and integration of new components and other equipment.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques used in routine research and development.
- Perform and report professional level engineering assignments related to a particular field of research.
- Select and determine procedures in design, research, mapping, surveys, and investigations.
- Conduct specific phases of research and/or engineering projects.
- Supervise logistical packing layouts of engineering equipment.
- Collaborate with engineers, software developers and technicians to design and apply new system processes.
Functional Area 3: Program Management
Percent Effort: 10%
Job Duties
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise on UAS Research and Development.
- Assist with development of white papers, working papers, reports, and other technical documents.
- Lead meetings with stakeholders and vendors to develop plans and manage program scope.
- Help with program management plans and cost estimates.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
- Four years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Knowledge of 2D/3D Computer Aided Design programs (Solid Works)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with UAS operations
- Familiar with Fixed wing, Rotorcraft and VTOL aircraft
- Travel associated with position may be up to 20%
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer programming skills (Python, Matlab, etc.)
SALARY
Approx.$6,250-$6,833 monthly(Approx. $75,000-$82,000 Annually)
