GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.

Performs moderately complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), Motor Vehicle Division (MVD). Work involves planning, developing, and implementing MVD’s Metal Plate and sticker program, researching and responding to customer inquiries regarding Metal Plates and stickers, responding to WebDealer-eTAG inquiries, maintaining plate and sticker inventory, and maintaining recordkeeping systems. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Interpret and apply Texas statutes and TxDMV Board rules related to Metal Plates and stickers issued to MVD license holders;

Review, process, and approve or deny metal license plate and sticker applications according established procedures and applicable Texas statutes and TxDMV Board rules;

Validate, prepare, and distribute Metal Plates and stickers and related documentation for license holders according to established procedures and applicable Texas statutes and TxDMV Board rules;

Process returned metal dealer plates, stickers, and related documents according to established procedures and applicable Texas statutes and TxDMV Board rules;

Monitor and update eLICENSING system to accurately reflect information submitted and current status of metal license plates;

Monitor WebDealer-eTAG system to address customer inquiries and data-related issues. Research technical errors; respond to all division-directed inquiries; process administrator change requests and update database records;

Monitor inventory levels for metal license plates and stickers. Coordinate with MVD purchaser to place plate and sticker orders and ensure adequate stock is maintained at TxDMV HQ and at the plates warehouse in Huntsville. Validates orders received to ensure they comply with order specifications;

Serve as point of contact for external customer inquiries related to Metal Plates and stickers issued to MVD license holders. Researches information needed for inquiry and responds to the customer;

Serve as point of contact for MVD License Specialists on issues related to Metal Plates and stickers issued to MVD license holders. Researches information requested and collaborates with Specialists to resolve any issues or to fulfill any requests;

Review, research, and resolve database errors found while processing applications or making database updates. Collaborate with TxDMV Information Technology staff to research and resolve technical problems and data related to Metal Plates and stickers;

Research and collect information for reports or other needs and assist with special projects;

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of statutes, administrative rules, and agency policies related to the program area.

Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software; skill in customer service and providing accurate, timely information to internal and external customers.

Ability to gather, correlate and analyze information; ability to interpret policies and procedures; ability to communicate effectively.

Qualifications


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience


Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited four-year accredited college or university preferred.


Experience: Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a field related to the agency program.


Substitution Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.


Licensure and/or Certification – If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.

TRAVEL

May travel up to 5% of the time. May include overnight travel. Travels by car and possibly by plane. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE

A valid Class "C" driver's license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct department business.
