Tradesmen International is immediately hiring skilled Turbine Outside Machinists for projects located in and around Newport News, VA. This is a first shift opportunity with a pay rate of $17.34-27.31/hour based on experience & skill level plus $120/per diem for travelers of 60+ miles from the job site . Job Scope:
Installation of hull inserts
Use of lapping & blue checking tools
Operate lathe
Valve overhaul, steam, & vog AC refrigeration repair
Installation of lift check valve
Steam plant cleaning
Installation of main engine propulsion plant machinery & equipment
Installation of anchor windlass, mast, & antenna
Lube oil flushing
Installation of ballast tanks, refueler, drilling/taping, etc.
Test boiler operations
Installation of valve & pump packing
Installation of deck ordinance
Shafting & bearing work
Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
2+ Years of Turbine Generator Experience
Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry
Familiarity with Fasteners
Ability to comprehend complex drawings, blueprints, diagrams, & sketches
