Job Description

The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking enthusiastic coaches to lead our Travel Basketball League, an official partnership with the Boston Celtics. Our Coaches participate in youth leagues teaching fundamental skills and helping the players understand components of the game. In this role, you will be challenged to problem solve, mentor youth, plan activities and demonstrate leadership. You will have the to opportunity to grow and learn while working with the players in the program. Our Coaches and staff make a difference in the lives of our youth, and feel inspired by the work they do. To thrive in this position, you have the availability to coach and inspire a team at least one night per week and regular and consistent Saturday availability. You are available March - May to ensure consistent and quality programming for team and league members. You bring a competitive nature to your team but role model sportsmanship at it's finest, regardless of the outcome. You have experience supporting the supervision of youth at play or in a structured program and understand the growth and development of school age children. You have strong communication skills with the players and all key stakeholders. You are empathetic and compassionate, supportive of all our participants unique needs.
Eligibility
- Previous Coaching experience preferred
- Personable demeanor and ability to effectively communicate with children and adults
- Reliable transportation required for league travel on the North Shore
- Schedule needed for Wednesday's from 4pm to 8pm
