Wynonas House Child Advocacy Center of Essex County, NJ seeks a Trauma-Informed Facility & Security Coordinator to oversee the safety and security of the facility to ensure it is a physical environment conducive to healing and recovery for children and families who have experienced child abuse or neglect. This role is also responsible for managing a team of security staff, outsourced maintenance and custodial vendors, and for collaborating with partner agencies to implement trauma-informed policies and practices throughout the center. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement trauma-informed policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with all safety and health regulations for the facility by collaborating with the COO, Executive Team, Administrators, and Supervisors.
- Train and educate staff on trauma-Informed Facility program principles, including the impact of trauma on individuals and how to respond in a supportive and compassionate manner.
- Ensure that the physical environment of the facility is safe, comfortable, and supportive of trauma recovery, including adequate lighting, ventilation, and appropriate furnishings.
- Oversee maintenance and custodial staff, ensuring that the facility is clean, well-maintained, and free from hazards that could trigger trauma responses.
- Develop and manage the facility's budget in collaboration with the COO.
- Serve as liaison with external agencies and organizations, including emergency services, to ensure that the facility is prepared to respond to crises and emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in facility management, business administration, or related field.
- At least three (3) years of facility management experience, with a demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed care principles.
- Strong leadership, organizational, project management, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of safety and health regulations and best practices
Preference will go to candidates who also have the following experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Bilingual candidates preferred English & Spanish, English & Creole, or English & Portuguese
- Training or certification in trauma-informed care or related area.
- Security Certification or Licensure.
- Experience working in a social service, law enforcement, or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with environmental design principles and their impact on well-being.
- Master's degree in a related field such as facility management, business administration, or public administration.
