```Job Summary:```
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee our transportation operations. The Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of drivers, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods, and maintaining compliance with transportation regulations.
Qualifications:
1. Preferred degree in the field of transportation or similar fields of business or education.
2. Capable administrator with knowledge/skills in the management of personnel.
3. Proficient public relations person.
4. Thorough knowledge of mechanics for the necessary work to be performed efficiently and correctly in the school bus maintenance garage.
5. Thorough knowledge of the Alabama School Bus Driver's Handbook and all current bulletins.
6. Must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Must be certified as a bus driver by the State Department of Education., pupil transportation section.
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Supervises staff in the transportation department.
2. Recommends mechanics, bus drivers, and other personnel for employment through the personnel office.
3. Works cooperatively as a liaison with personnel of the central office staff, parents, principals, and patrons.
4. Cooperates with and advises the Superintendent on purchases and specifications of equipment and all budget planning related to transportation services plans.
5. Plan bus routes and schedule.
6. Supervises reports and record systems.
7. Cooperates with the State Department of Transportation and ensures compliance with policies and standards, including, but not limited to, transportation data.
8. Assists in resolving disciplinary problems on school buses.
9. Plans and directs weekly staff meetings and prepares reports of minutes and other activities.
10. Assumes responsibility for acting as a representative of the Bessemer Board of Education in the solution of problems relative to transportation.
11. Performs other transportation-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
