Transportation Supervisor

Position Summary:

To supervise the transportation department including set-up, dispatch, drivers, and scheduling. Special emphasis is placed on problems relating directly to drivers. Direct authority over drivers and dispatch/set up staff. Indirect authority over dispatch supervisor.

Here's what you'll be doing:

• 6:00 am - 4:00 pm Sunday - Thursday
• Assist in planning/coordinating the scheduling of deliveries.
• Monitor reports to ensure specific goals regarding speed, idle and RPM are being met by our drivers.
• Monitor the miles per gallon fuel consumption reports to ensure specific goals are being met. Train, coach and
• Counsel driver associates on Progressive Shifting Techniques to improve individual and fleet MPG.
• Handle phone calls and e-mail from retail customers regarding scheduling, load problems, missing products, special orders, dropping trailers, etc.
• Create Driver Schedules.
• Be available to handle problems/questions and help all associates with personal and professional issues.
• Supervise the dispatch function to ensure that proper procedures are being used to ensure fairness to all drivers (to include balancing of hours).
• Work with other supervisors and departments within the facility to maintain production standards set by the company.
• Complete vehicle and industrial accident reports.
• Complete asset inventory as needed. Manage assets daily.
• Participate in the monthly accident review committee meetings as needed.
• Aggressively pursue waste and inefficiencies in their operation.
• Act as "change agent" to drive "lean" education and utilization.

Knowledge:

• Familiarity with TMS and supporting systems
• Familiarity/experience in a transportation/distribution environment
• Basic understanding of business financial reports and information
• Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
• DOT regulations

• Ability to work in a –5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each (department) for long periods of time

Education:

• High School Education or equivalent

Experience:

• 1 – 3 years transportation experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
