Position Summary:
To supervise the transportation department including set-up, dispatch, drivers, and scheduling. Special emphasis is placed on problems relating directly to drivers. Direct authority over drivers and dispatch/set up staff. Indirect authority over dispatch supervisor.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- 6:00 am - 4:00 pm Sunday - Thursday
- Assist in planning/coordinating the scheduling of deliveries.
- Monitor reports to ensure specific goals regarding speed, idle and RPM are being met by our drivers.
- Monitor the miles per gallon fuel consumption reports to ensure specific goals are being met. Train, coach and
- Counsel driver associates on Progressive Shifting Techniques to improve individual and fleet MPG.
- Handle phone calls and e-mail from retail customers regarding scheduling, load problems, missing products, special orders, dropping trailers, etc.
- Create Driver Schedules.
- Be available to handle problems/questions and help all associates with personal and professional issues.
- Supervise the dispatch function to ensure that proper procedures are being used to ensure fairness to all drivers (to include balancing of hours).
- Work with other supervisors and departments within the facility to maintain production standards set by the company.
- Complete vehicle and industrial accident reports.
- Complete asset inventory as needed. Manage assets daily.
- Participate in the monthly accident review committee meetings as needed.
- Aggressively pursue waste and inefficiencies in their operation.
- Act as "change agent" to drive "lean" education and utilization.
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with TMS and supporting systems
- Familiarity/experience in a transportation/distribution environment
- Basic understanding of business financial reports and information
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs

Education:
- High School Education or equivalent
Experience:
- 1 – 3 years transportation experience

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
