Bring your customer service skills to the south Salem DMV as a Transportation Services Representative. In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates. In addition, you will administer knowledge, skill and vision tests to potential drivers and provide information about regulations and policies. This is a Limited Duration appointment that is expected to end on or before June 30, 2024. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service. This position has the potential to become permanent.
A day in the life:
- Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
- Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
- Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
- Administer, correct and explain driver license tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and count inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- May require standing for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather, working an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Special qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
- Experience working in a fast paced environment and dealing with stressful situations.
- Experience providing excellent customer service.
- Experience handling multiple assignments and frequent interruptions.
- Experience effectively interpreting and communicating complex rules and policies to customers or clients.

- The salary range for this position will be truncated as of April 1, 2024, which will impact the minimum salary for this classification. The new salary range on April 1, 2024 will be $3,619 - $4,998.
