Job Summary:
The Transplant Financial Coordinator (TFC) is a pivotal position in the Blood and Marrow Transplant program. The role of the TFC is to assure the financial viability of all transplant and cellular therapy referrals throughout the continuum of care. The TFC's primary responsibilities are to ensure that patients being considered for blood or marrow transplantation, or cellular therapy have adequate insurance benefits and/or resources identified to ensure the best financial outcomes for both patients and the institution. This includes the verification of benefits for all transplant/cellular therapy related services, working with patients to understand their insurance coverage (including inpatient, outpatient, prescription, housing, travel, etc), helping find insurance coverage for patients, and working with team on disability, financial assistance, etc. The TFC is the primary up-front contact for insurance companies and medical reviewers. Determines what patient-specific and treatment-specific information is required by insurance companies and medical reviewers in order to obtain prior authorization for transplant and cellular therapy & related services.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
One year of healthcare experience is required.
Experience in managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, or other health insurance environment is preferred.
Experience with medical terminology is preferred.
Previous experience working with insurance companies is strongly preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Business, or Nursing OR other Bachelor's degree with relevant experience is required.

Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to function in a confidential and highly responsible manner required.
