The Position: We are looking for a Transitional Age YouthPeer Specialist , who is willing to embrace McKinley's mission and H.U.M.A.N values. The Transitional Age YouthPeer Specialist is responsible for providing active, hands-on peer support to transition aged youth (TAY) receiving services at McKinley Children's Center. Effective TAY support should be friendly, helpful, accessible and flexible. TAY Specialist support may be delivered in individual or group settings at the agency, in family homes or in community environments. TAY Specialists will utilize personal and prior experience of having themselves served in the system to relate to the TAY youth. Provides advocacy and liaison services between the clinician, families, treatment staff, community agencies in order to ensure families are supported through the process of receiving mental health services.
Compensation and Benefits:
The pay range we're offering is $24.00-$26.00 hourly depending (Based) on experience.

Qualifications:
  • Must have experience as a youth in the mental health system.
  • Bilingual skills preferable
  • Flexible hours consistent with the needs/availability of the clients
  • Program assignment
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Maintains a non-judgmental attitude toward families
  • Maintains required licenses and certifications to perform role
  • Microsoft Office
  • General Office Skills
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites
  • Ability to lift at least 10 pounds for filing, boxes, and packages
  • Ability to sit for several hours performing clerical functions
  • DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index
  • Insurability under Corporate Automobile Insurance

    • Provides guidance to TAY youth being served through the system.
  • Linking to Resources:
    • Identifies recommended resources
    • Supports individual and family decision-making in selecting resources
    • Connects individuals and families to community resources
  • Advocating:
    • Advocates on behalf of the client and family
    • Supports self-advocacy
  • Individualizing Care:
    • Tailors services to unique individual, family and community characteristics
    • In consultation with the treatment team, modifies plans and services based on individual and family experiences
    • Utilizes prior experiences of being a youth in the system to relate
  • Documenting:
    • Completes required documentation in required timeframe and in accordance with all legal and qualitative standards
    • Balances privacy with documentation requirements
