QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution;
  • A minimum of 3 years of college or university student services experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the admissions processes, including analysis of transcripts, credit transfer, and articulated 2+2 programs;
  • Working knowledge of the role of student services in a state college setting;
  • Experience working with curriculum and advisement;
  • Must be student centered and customer service-oriented;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population;
  • Strong analytical and research skills;
  • Exhibit sound judgment and discretion in working with confidential information, records, and the public;
  • Ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail-oriented;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be self-motivated;
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications;
  • Be willing to handle complex tasks, special assignments, and projects;
  • Understanding of, and ability to support, college programs and student recruitment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assisting the Graduation and Articulation Coordinator with policy, procedures, and processes surrounding credit articulation and evaluation;
  • Ensuring the integrity of all academic records in compliance with state and College policy as well as accreditation standards;
  • Conducting and coordinating official transcript evaluations for credit transfer, articulated credit, competency credit, advanced placement, IB, CLEP, AICE, and determining appropriate course placement;
  • Reviewing course syllabi, course descriptions, college catalogs, and other documents to determine course equivalencies;
  • Collaborating with administrative offices (research/reports, admissions, financial aid, finance, advising, IT, and alumni/development) to create new procedures and integrate information within the Workday system;
  • Lead a team of professionals to implement efficient processes and procedures;
  • Conducting graduation certification procedures while adhering to policies surrounding degree completion;
  • Serving as point of contact for inquiries related to graduation certification, conferral of degrees, and transcripts;
  • Maintaining a strong working knowledge of all of IRSC's programs, as well as a general knowledge of admissions, financial aid, advising, and curriculum services;
  • Reviewing transfer requirements for incoming students, including prerequisites and admissions requirements;
  • Keeping accurate records of student interactions and communications.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Utilizing current research, data and tracking to ensure accuracy of all credit evaluation;
  • Maintaining a continuously high level of knowledge regarding all IRSC program offerings, services, and information important to student success;
  • Referring students to appropriate institutional and community support services and resources;
  • Responding to telephone, text, and e-mail inquiries in a timely manner;
  • Participating in recruitment, retention, and advisement tasks and activities;
  • Guiding and making recommendations to staff during the application process;
  • Processing incoming transcripts;
  • Supporting the admissions correspondence process;
  • Researching student records and policies across other institutions and agencies;
  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Graduation and Articulation Coordinator.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
