NAFI Connecticut, Inc. is seeking an energetic, mission-oriented individual for the role of Training Specialist. The Training Specialist helps drive the culture and vision of NAFI through the administration and delivery of agency-wide employee training and development programs across the three states in which we operate (CT, RI, & NY). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in facilitation and curriculum design, knowledge of principles and methods of adult learning, and a passion for leading high-impact learning programs in a professional setting. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Deliver comprehensive training programs across all of NAFI’s service divisions, including but not limited to foster care, developmental services, behavioral health, and intensive community and residential treatment.
- Facilitate training for diverse audiences using a variety of instructional techniques and tools (didactic lecture, group discussion, role play, video/media, and experiential exercises) in both in-person and virtual platforms.
- Analyze the agency’s training needs and evaluate effectiveness of existing training programs in meeting these needs.
- Assist in the development, evaluation, and updating of training materials (manuals, visual aids, presentations, etc.) to ensure that they meet desired training objectives and reflect current best-practice standards.
- Manage employee training records to ensure compliance with agency, stakeholder, and funder requirements.
- Support NAFI’s commitment to sustaining a trauma-informed culture by ensuring training programs intentionally acknowledge the impact of trauma.
- Partner with agency leadership to promote training and development as an integral component for strong organizational culture, employee engagement, and retention.
Desired Qualifications:
- Willingness to travel to multiple sites across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. Anticipated out-of-state travel: 1-4 days per month. Mileage reimbursement provided.
- Proven ability to facilitate interactive and transformative training sessions, where participants are actively engaged in the process and transfer knowledge or skills to “on-the-job” applications.
- Excellent communication skills for writing, speaking, listening, understanding, and presenting and adapting content for a range of audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work as a part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to conduct all of NAFI’s employee training curriculum including crisis de-escalation and emergency physical intervention techniques.
- Experience managing content and reporting data in a Learning Management System preferred.
