I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Develops and delivers training and education referencing performance improvement initiatives. Curriculum updates may include new or refresher classes.
2. Participates in system upgrades and application enhancement planning using subject matter to develop or revise training curriculum.
3. Develops and demonstrates super user application expertise.
4. Provides training and education related to application navigation, during the onboarding process for employees new to the department, in new roles or new to the organization.
5. Performs competency testing and utilizes assessment tools to identify skill refreshment areas and prioritize educational needs.
6. Works collaboratively with UMMH various departments to improve workflows and processes.
7. Seeks input, updates, creates, and maintains current management policies and procedures.
8. Maintains current knowledge base of managed care, functions, payer behaviors, payer reimbursement practices, and payor billing processes and how they impact the management processes.
9. Follows quality assurance protocols to assess work quality of employees new to the department or in a new role.
10. Provides ongoing quality assurance oversight for employees following the established quality assurance program.
11. Monitors compliance with policies and procedures and ensures that all system features, available technologies, and tools are fully utilized.
12. Conducts audits to follow up on the effectiveness of teaching and compliance with policies and procedures to ensure consistent high-quality practice standards. Communicates findings to the management team.
13. Produces and maintains training schedules, and coordinates reservation of training rooms.
14. Facilitates and promotes the sharing of knowledge and content throughout UMMH departments.
15. May develop and facilitate New Employee Orientation.
16. May collaborate with management on the employee onboarding process.
17. May maintain and facilitate accesses to insurance web sites for UMMH.
18. Demonstrates excellent attendance and actively participates in a variety of meetings and training sessions as required.
19. Maintains a collaborative, team relationship with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the group's achievement of goals and to help foster a positive work environment.
20. Maintains and fosters an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
21. Demonstrates respect for the diversity of patient and employee populations. Supports and encourages diverse points of view, work, and lifestyles.
22. Practices cost containment and fiscal responsibility through the efficient use of supplies, equipment, time, etc.
23. Performs a variety of related duties as assigned by management.
Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:
1. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
3. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
5. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Associate's degree.
Preferred:
1. Bachelor's degree.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Two years of related experience (e.g. health care billing, reimbursement, managed care or scheduling, registration financial clearance, financial counseling).
2. Experience with revenue cycle systems, third party contracts, payment policies, claim processes or scheduling/registration systems, financial clearance or financial counseling processes.
3. Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to train others in the use of revenue cycle systems.
5. Knowledge of billing, reimbursement and charges.
6. Goal oriented with high standards for quality and performance.
7. Flexibility of schedule.
8. Ability to perform assigned tasks efficiently and in timely manner.
Preferred:
1. Previous training and education experience.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
