Job Purpose
The Training Lead is responsible for acting as a brand ambassador, introducing new employees to Parr culture and expectations. This includes increasing the skills of all location employees with new hire training and helping yard mentors stay engaged and on track with on-the-job training. This person is a critical resource for those groups.
This position impacts Parr's Mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork in significant ways. Improving the speed in which a new person gets trained will have a tremendous impact on our results, by helping us live up to our Mission Statement. Working with new and current employees, yard mentors and the location manager improves the Teamwork within our company.
The Training Lead works closely with the Yard Manager, Training Manager, Training Facilitators and the Curriculum Developer to create and facilitate interactive and engaging training out of our West Linn, Oregon lumberyard.
Pay starts at $22.54 - $26.53 Depending on Experience
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate new hire onboarding
- Help complete paperwork online if needed
- Complete Section 2 of the I-9
- Guide new hires through Parr University
- 30 and 90-day curriculum
- Enrolling in courses to further career
- Schedule New Associate Training (NAO) for new hires
- Introduce new hires to their onsite mentors
- Schedule job shadows of positions around the yard
- Track new hire progress using New Hire Training checklist
- Ensure all online and in-person training has been completed
- Monitor ApplicantPro for potential applicants
- Assist manager in phone screening candidates
- Assist in scheduling and conducting interviews
- Help with the onboarding process
- Requesting background check
- Scheduling UAs
- Help facilitate new hire's 90-day and subsequent reviews
- Help facilitate and track supplemental/cross training
- Have quarterly touch base regarding career path
- Identify and develop mentors in various positions
- Work with manager on strengths and opportunities for growth for all employees
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Knowledge of training principles, practices and protocols preferred
- Ability to adhere to company procedures, policies and protocols as set forth in the Hourly Employees Handbook
- Strong proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must be able to operate personal computer, telephone, scanner and any other equipment necessary for the job
- Knowledge of building materials preferred
- Working knowledge of Epicor's Falcon software preferred

Working Conditions
The primary working conditions are an office environment with a computer. The job requires occasional work in lumberyard or factory conditions working to train employees.
The job may require occasional travel (up to twice per month) to Parr locations in the Northwest. The job is primarily daytime, within a 6am to 6pm window, 40 hours per week plus overtime, as needed.
