Position Summary
The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) RESEA Training Instructor is responsible for developing, coordinating, and conducting Reemployment Services & Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) for the local workforce area. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Education and Professional Work Experience
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in business administration, with coursework in educational psychology, or related area being taught; plus two years of experience in the area being taught.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of training program development and presentation techniques.
- Knowledge of teaching principles and methods.
- Ability to research, develop, evaluate, and revise training programs.
- Ability to coordinate and conduct training programs.
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
Job Responsibilities and Expected Results
- Provide career guidance and counseling to groups and individuals, addressing employment barriers.
- Maintain the ability to assist staff and customers with resolving issues with a customer service mindset, seeking a win-win outcome for all.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the RESEA program policies and procedures.
- Read, understand , follow, and comply with verbal and written instructions. All electronic and hardcopy correspondence must be error-free, and comply with grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation , and capitalization rules.
- Develop, design and update training materials, including manuals, job aides, presentations, and assessment tools.
- Notifies UI personnel of claimant's attendance results and possible disqualifying events.
- Collect and conduct research on latest employment trends: such as resume preparations, interviewing skills, and employment searches.
- Coordinate, notify and refer RESEA participants to applicable agencies: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) service provider, partnered programs, and job openings.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the applications utilized in RESEA process.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship with RESEA team members and partnered programs.
- Attend training activities offered by the Agency or Partner Programs to stay updated with changes/ opportunities.
- Assist with community career expos/job fairs throughout the state.
- Comply with monthly required performance metrics.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Obtain/maintain skills necessary to effectively facilitate career guidance and counseling to groups and individual dislocated workers.
- Communicate with Program Monitor and Program Operations Manager regarding activities under the RESEA Program.
- Look/offer solutions to problems impacting the RESEA program.
- Maintain proper scheduling and proof of notification to claimants in WPRS scheduling and AJL.
- Communicate with staff, Agency partners, and customers in a professional and timely manner.
- Follow the Agency's Attendance and Punctuality Policy (in ADWS Personnel Manual).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
