McCO has an immediate opening for a Training Development Specialist to join our team and provide expertise to development of the Human Trafficking Expert Consultant Network at the Department of State’s (DOS) Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP Office). The position description below details the duties and qualifications of the position.

BACKGROUND

The Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP Office) leads the Department’s global engagement in the fight against Human Trafficking, partnering with foreign governments, international organizations, other federal agencies, the private sector, civil society, and survivors of Human Trafficking to develop and implement effective strategies for confronting Human Trafficking. The Department of State prioritizes programs and policies that incorporate trauma-informed and survivor-informed approaches into federal anti- trafficking efforts. Through the Human Trafficking Expert Consultant Network (Network), the TIP Office seeks to continue to promote sustainable engagement and leadership of experts with lived experience of Human Trafficking in all aspects of the State Department’s anti-trafficking efforts. This program will oversee the maintenance, management, and growth of the Network, which will continue to allow experts and survivors of Human Trafficking to provide expertise and input into the development of federal anti-trafficking policies, strategies, and products both domestically and abroad.

Requirements

The qualified candidate for Training Development Specialistmust possess levels of education and demonstrated experience in the following:

  • Expertise on Human Trafficking or related issues;
  • Conducting training and technical assistance activities, including in international settings;
  • Tailoring training materials to adult learning styles;
  • Working on a team in a fast-paced and demand-driven environment and ensuring completion of quality deliverables;
  • Working with survivors of crime in a professional setting;
  • Implementing trauma-informed approaches;
  • Developing public awareness resources for various audiences;
  • Designing and developing specialized training content and/or publications on trauma and/or related issues;
  • Collaborating with and advising federal agencies on training needs and delivering training to federal audiences;
  • Planning, guiding, and managing group meetings/events to ensure group objectives and shared goals are met;
  • Distilling and articulating, orally and in writing, complex ideas and concepts shared by multiple contributors to produce a written product;
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following experience and capabilities:

  • Master’s degree in global studies, cultural studies, Human Rights Studies, Criminal Justice, Sociology or related field;
  • International or field experience working on Human Trafficking or related issues;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and other productivity applications and platforms.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Training Development Specialist are as follows:

  • The Training Development Specialist shall support the development, operation, and management of the Network and provide quality assurance and quality control;
  • Provide trauma-informed support to consultants with lived experience of Human Trafficking throughout their consultancy;
  • Oversee the TIP Office’s suite of trauma training modules, as well as analyze TIP Office training needs, design and develop and deliver training content and revise content as needed;
  • Develop and execute routine assessment of training that includes determining whether identified needs were met, and anticipated result(s) achieved
  • Facilitate long-term and ongoing Technical Assistance between consultants and TIP Office staff to allow for more collaborative and meaningful engagement;
  • Facilitate input and development of public-facing anti-trafficking resources;
  • Develop, deliver, and update specialized trauma training;
  • Develop and execute routine assessment of training that includes determining whether identified needs were met;
  • Deliver technical assistance (TA) and capacity building services and facilitate the development and review of public-facing materials;
  • Ensure quality control and assurance of contract deliverables.
