- Overview of Position:
Leads cross functional teams to implement improvements to existing equipment, manufacturing methods and tooling. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Trains new associates and current associates on work procedures and processes. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
- Trains and provides expertise in fabricating and welding equipment to hourly associates.
- Develop, implement and deliver training programs for varying levels of shop associates.
- Conducts equipment /process audits and leads improvement efforts.
- Works with manufacturing and QA to identify the root cause of quality defects and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Provide support to product designers by providing information related to manufacturing capabilities or guidelines to improve manufacturability of designs.
- Leads and manages kaizen/lean improvement events.
- Consults with managers and supervisors to assess training needs and develop programs to match these needs.
- Develop and recommend effective procedures and supporting policies which will help establish and achieve production schedules and quality standards at the most favorable cost.
- Assist in planning, organize and coordinate jobs to maximize production efficiencies.
- Monitors the work of employees to assure that productivity, quality and safety objectives are met; train employees to help them achieve these standards.
- Provide leadership in communications among employees, teams and other groups in the organization.
- Provide assistance in planning work schedules and floor space requirements.
- Will be required to operate metal fabricating equipment and welding related equipment, according to established codes and standards, develop new weld procedures which insure proper weld size, weld penetration, fit-up and appearance.
- Check completed work to insure that it meets the requirements set by QC and engineering standards
- Coordinates with engineering and QC personnel when welding and fabrication changes are requested to be made.
- Inspect product at regular intervals and complete all necessary paperwork and documentation regarding assembly and inspection records and procedures.
- Keep Supervisor advised of any quality problems, concerns, delays, etc.
- Suggest methods improvements or alternate methods and materials to reduce cost and/or improve quality.
- Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
