DESCRIPTION
The Technical Manager III/Senior Traffic Engineer is responsible for leading field inventory for traffic analysis and design, traffic data collection programs, traffic analysis and studies, technical reports, traffic modeling and simulation, traffic demand forecast and models, transportation management plan and traffic engineering design including traffic signal layout and timing, intersection design, pavement markings and striping, signing and traffic control plans.. You will leverage your engineering knowledge and skills to manage the preparation of engineering plans, calculations, and reports, technical specifications, and construction estimates and schedules. You will have the opportunity to instruct and guide junior engineers in the development of engineering reports and analyses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The best part about being a Technical Manager III at Michael Baker is that no two days will be the same. You will face different challenges every day, some of which will be extraordinarily complex.
- Most days will be spent in the office leading traffic analysis and/or preparation of engineering designs including, traffic signals, timing plans, traffic control plans and pavement markings plans.
- Other days you will help prepare technical proposals and reports or meet with client representatives on projects.
- On some days, you will make field visits to project sites to review, investigate, and document existing infrastructure conditions, , or provide construction support services for on-going transportation-related construction projects.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering, and at least 15 years of progressive traffic engineering experience.
- A Master’s degree in Engineering is desirable.
- A Professional Engineering license in CA required.
- A Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification is highly desirable.
- Ability to interact with coworkers and clients at different levels. Excellent communication skills, written, and verbal are required.
- Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.), AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Experience with traffic engineering analysis software such as HCS and Synchro is required. Experience with VISSIM, CORSIM, SIDRA is highly desirable.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $126,000-$208,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
