Opportunity :
Our Parsons San Diego office is now hiring for an experienced Senior /Principal Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning and Traffic Modeling team. This role will support primarily clients in the Southern California region, though at times projects may expand to anywhere in California and for national clients as well. We offer a flexible hybrid remote working solution, with preference of ability to report to the San Diego office as needed, but virtual based anywhere in California will be considered.
Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage transportation planning and traffic modeling projects for a diverse range of clients across the United States.
  • Conduct traffic studies, data collection, and simulations to develop effective and safe traffic management solutions.
  • Utilize traffic modeling software like VISSIM, HCS, and Synchro for project development and analysis.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of project documentation compliant with relevant local state and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to bring projects from concept to completion.
  • Develop scopes of work and assist in basic budgeting tasks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Act as a liaison between the client, stakeholders, and public agencies, taking the initiative to determine the next steps strategically to bring our clients to successful project completion.
  • Mentor and review the work products of junior staff with a view toward growing into a management role.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field is required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or (TE) license in Civil or Traffic is highly preferred. If license is from outside of California, ability to obtain one in the state within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 8 years or more of professional experience in transportation planning and Traffic Engineering.
  • Expertise in traffic modeling and forecasting software, specifically VISSIM, HCS, and Synchro.
  • Travel demand modeling and HSM knowledge is a plus
  • Basic understanding of SB 743 VMT requirements and experience with Caltrans project delivery is desirable, but not required.
  • Proven track record of project approval and client satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic budgeting and scope development skills.

Salary Range:
$83,300.00 - $168,700.00
