Howard Precision Metals, part of the Ryerson family of companies, has an opportunity for a Traffic Controller position. As a Traffic Controller you are responsible for coordinating of inbound and outbound traffic, including tracking a disseminating detailed information, creating schedules for the timely delivery of materials, identifying and anticipating issues, and providing clear, timely and concise communications to all departments/areas involved. This role acts as liaison between Operations and Sales, Finance, and Purchasing Departments.

This position is 1st shift. The hours for this position are Monday – Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Reviews sales orders for timely scheduling, and delivery
- Reviews held Sales Orders for potential impact on production and delivery schedules
- Responsible for 100% accuracy and documentation for shipping and billing
- Provides support to the truck drivers, monitoring, and handling issues
- Provides support to Inside Sales when there are issues with shipments, special freight rates, and other related concerns that arise with our customers to bring about solutions and further engage in giving excellence in customer service
- Prints and reviews daily reports to aid in order production scheduling and status, and delivery options
- Communicates with sales to verify order production schedule and delivery information and Leadtime changes to Sales departments
- Schedules outbound and direct ship deliveries with Operations and freight companies
- Prints and reviews Bills of Lading, and Material Certifications for outbound and direct ship deliveries.
- Assist in negotiating freight rates with outside freight carriers

Position Requirements:• High School Diploma or GED required
- 3-5 years of related experience working in a warehouse
- Ability to create organization and maintain workflow
- Demonstrated ability to keep a pulse on progression of tasks and meet deadlines
- Reliable and consistent in communications with the other departments, demonstrated by documented follow-through to completion
- Able to stay calm under pressure, remain professional in conduct, communication, and posture
- Ability to be agile and adjust as situations and conditions change
- Demonstrated analytical skills to create solutions to problems, to be a problem-solver
