Trademark Docket Clerk – Job Description
- Experience managing a docket of at least 2,500 active marks
- Coordinate all aspects of IP docketing for U.S. and international IP portfolios related to trademarks, patents, and domain names, with a focus on trademark matters.
- Monitors, reviews, and extracts information from trademark offices, local counsel, staff, and clients globally for entry into our docketing database
- Identifies and communicates pertinent deadlines to lawyers and paralegals on a daily basis
- Works with our attorneys and paralegals to ensure all deadlines are satisfied by assessing correspondence and proof of filings
- Programs, runs, prints, and distributes docket reports to attorneys and staff
- Assists with the intake of new trademark portfolios
- Prepare and distribute docket reports as requested by attorneys and legal teams to ensure that all deadlines are met. Maintain direct contact with internal clients to ensure daily docket deadlines are satisfied.
- Preserve and audit the docket database, including entering, clearing and updating filing due dates and reminders.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the docket database to create specialized reports and make appropriate changes as necessary.
- Assist with intake and auditing of all Intellectual Property transferred files.
- Coordinate client communications and the integrity of electronic case records.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and legislative rulings impacting all IP procedures and regulations.
- Communicate with USPTO or relevant trademark jurisdiction to confirm deadlines.
- Preferably, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience with a significant docketing software program
