We currently have an opening for a Trade Compliance, Logistics, and Import-Export Manager. This newly created role would ideally be based out of our Houston, TX facility, but can also work from one of our other U.S. operating sites in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, PA and will report to the Director of Strategic Sourcing. Discretionary consideration may be given to remote work elsewhere for the right candidate. The ideal candidate for this position will have confident knowledge of global trade, extensive experience in trade policies and regulations, and seeking a growth opportunity within a global manufacturing organization. This individual will be responsible for Trade Compliance, Logistics, and Import-Export globally. This individual will work closely with inventory and logistics team members at all operating sites and will collaborate on ways to improve processes and document compliant procedures for all locations.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Trade Compliance, Logistics, and Import-Export at Process-Insights North America Sites (currently six sites), as well as support for Europe and Asia for Import-Export and guidance on Trade Compliance (currently four international locations).
  • Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, legal, finance, and other relevant departments to integrate compliance requirements into business processes for production to achieve the Company's key customer metric of On-Time Delivery and maintain accuracy of customer shipments and handle reverse logistics requirements. Act as a liaison between the company and government regulatory agencies. Conduct regular internal audits to assess Trade Compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay current on national and international trade regulations, including but not limited to import/export controls, sanctions, and customs laws.
    • Interpret and communicate relevant regulations to internal stakeholders.
    • Ensure company-wide adherence to Trade Compliance laws and regulations.
  • Risk Assessment:
    • Conduct risk assessments on import/export activities and transactions
    • Implement measures to mitigate potential compliance risks.
  • Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement Trade Compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
    • Provide training to employees on Trade Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Oversee the accurate and timely completion of import and export documentation.
    • Maintain organized and auditable records of all trade-related transactions.
    • Monitors and evaluates shipping reports to effectively schedule and plan freight for outgoing finished goods (domestic and international)
  • Manages shipment processes across Process Insights sites, including receiving shipment pack list, commercial invoicing, overall shipping requirements, labeling, material certifications, loading shipments per weight restrictions and customer specifications.
  • Validates shipping notices, bills of lading, dashboards, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Prepares shipping documents for domestic and international shipments.
  • Examines shipping costs and negotiates with carriers to reduce shipping expenses through carrier contracts.
  • Assures that all department employees are adequately trained and collaborates with direct supervisors to assess the performance of department members across Process Insights sites.
  • Supports process improvement activities. Implement monitoring systems to track and report compliance metrics. Stay informed about industry best practices and technological advancements in Trade Compliance. Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others; and maintaining them over time.
  • Assure appropriate use of Epicor's ERP system and adopt new business practices as part of newly modeled processes; become a change-agent in support of new ERP practices.
  • Occasional travel, as needed, to assess readiness and compliance of all sites globally.

Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or related field desired
  • Previous experience in Trade Compliance, customs, or a related field
  • Certification in Trade Compliance (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist) is a plus.
  • 5+ Years Logistics or Trade Compliance Experience
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs laws
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex regulatory information to various stakeholders.
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Must be able to understand quality standards, methods and reporting as required.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional time management skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior attention to detail and high level of organization and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-directed and highly motivated.
  • Ability to successfully engage, lead and influence individual and team discussions and meetings.
  • Strong ability to work well with peers and colleagues from other departments, carriers, customers, and other companies in a proactive and constructive manner.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, ERP functionality (Epicor preferred), Trade Compliance Software.
