Shore Publishing/Zip06.com is seeking a full-time Town Reporter to cover the towns of Killingworth, Madison, and Guilford. The reporter will be responsible for civic news and features for our print and online publications. The successful candidate for this detail- and deadline-driven position will have experience in news writing, photography, and social media. This is a full-time role and is eligible for a benefits package which includes health insurance, company paid life insurance and a paid time off benefit.

Responsibilities

· Cover news of general interest, including municipal government, and write six to seven weekly articles and features for publication in the Guilford Courier, The Source, and Zip06.com.

· Develop sources to produce full news reports in a timely manner.

· Shoot photos as needed to illustrate stories.

· Work with the editorial staff to engage online readers.

Qualifications

· B.A. degree

· 1-2 years of news reporting experience preferred.

· Experience working in a CMS is preferred but not required.

· Must be comfortable with social media.

· Familiarity with the latest multimedia reporting skills, including audio and video interviewing.

· Must be a self-starter who can work as part of a team.

· Must have the ability to make deadlines while balancing multiple projects.

· Driver’s license and own vehicle required.

· Some weekends, night and irregular hours are required.
