This position involves acting as a Tour Guide of Magnolia Mound historic house, providing information, answering questions, opening/closing the gate and building, souvenir and ticket sales, cash remittance, serving refreshments. There is considerable personal interaction, mainly face to face , with the general public.
Education: High school graduate; some college preferred.
Other: One - two years experience in sales or as a Tour Guide or both; experience in a public/service position. Basic Mathematical aptitude. Ability to operate electronic cash register. Some knowledge of and interest in history (preferably Louisiana ); strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well with the public; good speaking voice and professional presentation.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting customers
- Providing information
- Answering questions while guiding tours of house and property
- Opening and closing gate, house, kitchen, gift shop
- Selling goods in shop
- Accepting an accounting for cash
- Balancing cash receipts
- Setting up and serving refreshments.
5-6 hours per day, 29 hours per week, with some weekend work.
