Red Stick Adventures has an immediate need for OUTDOOR WALKING TOUR GUIDEs to provide outdoor narrated WALKING TOURs for our groups of guests for their in-port scheduled excursion. Tours are primarily 3 hour , 3.5-4 mile outdoor excursions, which may be mornings or afternoons, and guides must be versed enough in local flora and fauna to be able to answer questions as they arise.
YOU MUST BE ABLE TO MEMORIZE AND RECITE A SCRIPT AND COMFORTABLY PHYSICALLY WALK AND TALK at the same time TO GROUPS OF PEOPLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE MEMORIZED AND READY TO GO WITHIN A 2 WEEK TIMEFRAME.- SO IT REQUIRES SELF-DISCIPLINE AND SELF-PRACTICE.
GUIDES MUST COVER ANY TATTOOS you have visible, as the cruise lines have strict dress codes. Applicants must be able to work 3.5 HOUR SHIFTS- ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS- MAY BE TWO SHIFTS (ONE MORNING AND ONE AFTERNOON) AND SOME SUNDAY mornings. It will likely ONLY one or two Sundays a month and very few Saturdays if any.
Please but do not apply if you cannot work on these days.
Our schedule is somewhat flexible, and you will not be needed for each of these days each week, as our work is primarily dependent on days riverboat cruise lines are in port , but extra consideration will be given to those who can work regularly on these days. You must be able to drive to and from Baton Rouge.
This is a pretty fun position, but does require the ability to know and recite the stories with enthusiasm (a script will be provided for learning and memorization), be physically capable of walking at least 4 miles a day and clearly speak and entertain a group of people in a close, yet open (outside) environment.
It is a part-time, contract opportunity (1099, not W2). It is a great position especially for side income, fitness instructors, teachers in the summer (or weekends), actors, retirees, servers, or whoever likes people.
Those with issues of attendance, reliability, maturity, unwillingness to cover tattoos, and transportation issues, need not apply. Please do not apply if you cannot fulfill all of the requirements as listed above and if you are not HONESTLY interested in this position or cannot work on those days we have posted. Let's not waste each other's time.
Tourism and hospitality industry experience is NOT needed, though it is helpful. Priority in response is given to candidates with equivalent experience (customer service, hospitality, service industry, teaching, public speaking, acting, fitness instructor, etc.).
