Job Description

This position will assist ITC Phoenix in optimizing the performance of production tooling and equipment. Role will cover the Implementation of tool-qualification and tool-certification procedures that will assure quality and equipment up-time. Position will be responsible to establish tool-change procedures and frequencies using 6-Sigma tools and production data. These activities will include, prediction of tool wear and the development of the necessary PM procedures and frequencies, development of solutions to problems with respect to processes and tooling, provision of support for new processes, tooling, and equipment, support in the set-up of new equipment, support in the development of standard operating procedures for tooling, and assistance in the training of others in manufacturing processes. This role will also provide technical assistance in project work and CI projects related to tooling and equipment. In this role, the tooling technician will manage the inventory levels of consumable tooling for the full value stream. The technician will use lean tools and procedures to establish a visual, Kanban system for tooling management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Acquire knowledge of equipment to support ITC’s Maintenance and Manufacturing teams.
  2. Use of 6-Sigma tools for the reduction of process variation
  1. Implement tool qualification and tool certification procedures that will assure quality and equipment up-time.
  2. Establishment of tool change procedures and frequencies using 6-Sigma tools and production data.
  3. Facilitate visual management in the maintenance and inventory area.
  4. Establish a visual, Kanban system for tooling management.
  5. Ensure that tooling inventory levels are managed and communicated for replacement and replenishment.
  6. Support the Implementation of methods to predict tool wear and develop the necessary TPM procedures and frequencies.
  7. Development of solutions to problems with respect to tooling by applying Kaizen principles to continuous improvement.
  8. Provide design support for new tooling.
  9. Assist in the development and implement Pictorial Procedures in conjunction with Process Engineering.
  10. Support the set-up of tooling on new equipment to assure satisfactory operation of the new equipment and tooling.
  11. Provide support in the development of tooling procedures.
  12. Support the development of process improvement projects related to tooling at ITC.
  13. Assist in the completion of repairs and PM’s.
  14. Use measurement and comparator equipment as needed.
  15. Fabricate and modify parts for the repair of the ITC Phoenix equipment.
  16. Use machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to produce precision metal parts.
  17. Plan and conduct the operations needed to make machined products that meet precise specifications.
  18. CNC machine programming knowledge is an advantage.
  19. Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
  20. Maintain open communication through the various levels of the organization.
  21. Maintain safe work practices and environment.
  22. On call on an as needed basis
  23. Punctuality and reliability are a must.
  24. Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

  1. Five to seven years of experience in a related field or technical schooling.
  2. Knowledge of at least three of the following tools: Lathe, Milling Machine, Surface Grinder, CNC Machines.
  3. Understand control wiring, logic diagrams, and schematics.
  4. Expert in computer-controlled machine tools and has had exposure to high-volume automated production equipment.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  6. Experience in programming of one or more of the following PLC programs: Siemens, S5, S7, ABB, Bosch, and more.
  7. Thorough knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering terminology, manufacturing materials and product development.
  8. Able to facilitate a Kanban inventory system in the maintenance inventory.
  9. Good computer skills. Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

KNOWLEDEGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Five years of experience in a related field or technical schooling.
  2. Basic Mathematical Skills.
  3. Working knowledge in MS Office tools, Word, Excel.
  4. Competency in computer-controlled machine tools and exposure to high-volume automated production equipment.
  5. Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  6. Knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering terminology, manufacturing materials and methods.
  7. Experience in reading engineering drawings and schematics.
  8. Basic understanding of GD&T.
  9. Proficient in the use of measuring equipment, instrumentation, and comparators
  10. Experience with CAD software (i.e., AutoCAD, Solid Works. Etc.) is desired for the support of tool design & development.
  11. Knowledge of at least three of the following tools: Lathe, Milling Machine, Surface Grinder, CNC Machines.
  12. Detail oriented.
  13. Ability to prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks/projects.
  14. Must be self-motivated, positive, and energetic.
  15. Heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, and stooping might be required.

This is a direct hire opportunity to join a well established company in wire mesh production.


This is a first shift opportunity, Monday - Thursday 6am - 4pm and Friday 6am - 12pm.
Must be available to work extended hours and be On Call after hours and weekends.
