POSITION TITLE:

Tool Room/CNC Machinist

POSITION REPORTS TO:

General Manager or VP Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY:

· 50% Responsible for using appropriate equipment such as grinders, manual mill, and lathe to produce tooling to blueprint.

· 50% Running Production CNC Lathes/Mills and custom secondary operations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Use necessary equipment and measuring devices to make or modify tooling for existing and new job blueprints.

2) Make sure tools are sharpened and tool holders in good working condition before being placed back on shelf or in tool drawers.

3) Repair or requisition replacement parts, tooling or hardware as needed to maintain adequate stock.

4) Check tooling in and out of tool room computer.

5) Set up and operate all tool room machines to sharpen form tools, taps, and drills.

6) Build new holding fixtures and gages as required for new jobs or process improvements.

7) Help CNC department by running production parts on mills or lathes. Set-up experience and/or programming experience would be a plus.

8) Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards; i.e., proper use of personal protective equipment.

9) Participate in department team meetings.

10)Perform other duties as requested.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES.

1) Assist, as needed, in other functional areas of quality and production.

2) Work greater than 40 hours per week as needed.

3) Provide optimal quality of service to all customers – internal and external.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma or GED

· Strong Background in Metrology and GD&T

· 5 years minimum experience required.

· Positive attitude with ability to be flexible.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Lifting and Bending - Occasional bending and stooping.

2. Hearing - Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.

3. Repetitive Motions – Some movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

4. Sitting – Maintaining body position by sitting at desk.

5. Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas through verbal means, including those activities in which one must convey detailed, spoken instructions to others accurately and/or quickly.

6. Visual – Requires vision sufficient to perform work dealing largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, operating computer terminal, and reading.
