Scope of job: Supervises die maker/repair persons, machinists, CNC machinists, apprentices, and Tool Room helpers; coordinates preventive maintenance of all production tooling with production control manager and expedites in-process spare details for production tooling

Essential:
Experience with production tools and prints, Tool Room equipment, and hard gaging measuring equipment, including a working knowledge of coordinate measuring machine and comparator
Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Knowledge of inspection processes and methods
Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing process
Strong math knowledge

Responsibilities:
General:
Helps maintain efficient Tool Room operation, including training (operation of equipment; safety standards and practices), motivating, and as necessary disciplining employees
Maintains interdepartmental communication and determines assignments to all personnel under his charge
Coordinates work flow--consults with die shop mgr. to establish priorities
Assists engineering with tool design and re-design: may attend tool concept, design, release and review meetings
Verifies updated or revised tooling prints
Assists in coordinating shift transition and outside services (coatings, heat treat, subs for work overloads)
Coordinates with machine technicians on setup operation to make test runs and experimental products
Coordinates and performs major or minor repairs on dies in or out of the press
Initiates ECR/Ns (Engrg.Chg.Req. Notices) to update prints and/ or bills of material to updated prints
Specific:
Schedules and assigns all preventive maintenance for production tooling
Expedites spare details for all production tooling to maintain a proper inventory
Establishes proper re-order points and re-order quantities of all spare parts for production tooling
Establishes preventive maintenance schedules for perishable details on production tooling recorded in tool maintenance die folders
Physical requirements:
Lifting: medium (10-50 pounds; once a day to once a month)
Mobility: walking and standing
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Experience level: 5 years Tool Room experience, 2 to 3 of those as tool & die maker, or supervisor of diemakers
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
