Job Function:
- Develop, establish, and implement long-range and short-term strategies and operating plans to achieve goals and objectives.
- Direct and coordinate work activities related to the design and development of new packaging projects.
- Design tooling to accommodate production machines used in our manufacturing process includes planning, directing, and coordinating all inhouse work and outside vendor services required for completing new tooling.
- Coordinate the repair and maintenance of existing tooling.
- Clarify product specifications, design perimeters, prototype/sample needs and
- production tooling requirements through Bardes Plastics sales representatives or directly with customer engineers.
- Utilize computer aided design software to perform applicable design and prototype work while staying current with design software advancements.
- Participate as a member of the company's Product Design Team to analyze new product designs, manufacturing capabilities, tooling needs and quality control challenges.
- Maintain liaison with estimating, sales, purchasing, and production departments and when appropriate, conduct new product design meetings.
- Perform the process for entering and printing job shop orders for prototype and production tooling using MACOLA computer program and coordinate purchasing needs by submitting purchase orders to the Purchasing Manager.
- Plan and evaluate tooling department staffing needs, schedule machine, maintenance, and maintain shop supply inventories.
- Comply with and enforce all Company occupational and food safety policies and work rules.
Basic requirements:
- 5+ years of Tool or Package Design experience or college degree in lieu of experience
- Solid Works Experience
