SMNS Team Coordinator Job Description
Our teachers are passionate about the intellectual and emotional development of children. Team Coordinators take the role of the Lead Teacher. Coordinators are responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment, and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of children. Coordinators help to organize teachers on their team and work to support the school’s mission and strategic priorities in their classrooms and with their teams. They work closely with the Executive Director, Program Administrator, and Operations Director. Monthly one-on-one supervisory meetings with leadership, weekly team meetings, and other planning meetings as needed make up regular responsibilities. Other meetings may also be integrated to meet school wide or team specific needs.
*Lead Teacher responsibilities
- Create and/ or support the creation of a developmentally appropriate plan for children in their team
- Develop weekly lesson plans, activities and class setups with their team
- Assess children’s needs and development
- Work closely with families to encourage mutual cooperation
- Provide guidance to team members to help resolve issues with students, with one another, or across teams when necessary
- Ensure the safety of all children
- Closely follow licensing regulations, and Keystone Stars requirements related to child care
- Possession of an Associates degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field is preferred
- 2+ years’ experience in teaching capacity and lesson planning
- Passionate about the development and well-being of children

The Coordinators also:
- Talk to therapists/ work on and with IEPs/ email therapists and sign papers
- Serve as the face of their classroom for visitors
- connect general information: follow up with team members; coordinate communication between team and parents and team and administration
- Serves as the Middle person with team members
- Ensure that families receive weekly letters (writing them or making sure they are written) and that each child has either a daily (toddler) or weekly (preschool) report
- Works to document learning and brings this to their teams for reflection
- Ensures that effective responsive classroom management is in place and is always evolving. This includes the following tasks:
- observing and reflecting
- motivating
- making calls/judgements/decisions
- assigning duties
- identifying strengths and aligning jobs with them
- fostering positive work environment
- leading by example
- making tough calls
- holding accountable
- speaking to team members if their actions seem inappropriate or unhelpful

Pay: $16.50 - $25.00 per hour
