Description and Qualifications

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Tissue Resource Manager (TRM) works closely with the Director, Tissue Donation Services (TDS) to continually increase tissue donation and maintain acceptable rates of tissues recovered per donor.  The TRM plays a primary role in training of TDS staff, serves as a key liaison between LifeCenter Northwest (LCNW) and our affiliated processing programs, and in addition to assigned supervisory responsibilities is available as an expert technical resource on cases.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Management Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the Director, Tissue Donation Services to maximize the number of tissue donors and grafts recovered for transplantation and research.
  • Directs recovery activities focusing on opportunities to maximize efficiencies including special projects focused on improving recovery processes and outcomes.
  • Works collaboratively with the Tissue Technical Training Program Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining technical training programs encompassing best practices.
  • Ensures recovery documentation is compliant with operational policies and procedures, regulatory, and accreditation agencies.
  • Develops and maintains professional and productive relationships with processing partners, medical professionals, hospitals, vendors, and donation organizations.
  • Collaborates with Hospital Development team to ensure LCNW is positively and accurately represented.
  • Provide effective coaching to engage, support, and motivate staff to realize their greatest potential in service of LCNW’s mission.
  • Ensures effective communication and coordination with all LCNW Tissue Recovery team personnel.
  • Assists the Director, Tissue Donation Services with the performance and merit assessment for Tissue staff.
  • Assists the Director, Tissue Donation in yearly review of policy as well as creation of new policy, job aides, and work instructions.
  • Participates in the call schedule on a discretionary basis to facilitate staff evaluations, signoffs, or as an additional team member for high case volume.
  • Working with the Materials Management Program Manager and Tissue Technical Training Program Manager, monitors equipment and sends equipment for repair when necessary.
  • Tracks Surgical Reports from processors, noting any surgical errors etc.
  • Takes call as Administrator on Call for triaging and screening cases.

 

Supervision

  • This position directly supervises Tissue Recovery Coordinator staff as defined by the Director, Tissue Donation Services. As a result of responsibilities and expertise, will provide significant direction to various individuals involved in the tissue recovery process.
  • Performs other related duties as required by the needs of the company and the senior leadership team.
  • Participates in, and may lead, employee committees and events.
  • Complies with applicable laws, regulations, and LifeCenter policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Working familiarity with tissue processing and graft utilization required.
  • Ability to independently recover all tissue types required.
  • An understanding of the hospital system, especially the operating room environment.
  • This individual must demonstrate operating knowledge of computers with a demonstrable, intermediate level skill (at a minimum) with email, Word, Excel, and other comparable software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment
  • This position may require the ability to operate specialized equipment, such as audio-visual equipment.
  • The individual must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Activities/ Requirements

  • Travel is essential to this position; the employee must be prepared to travel by automobile and airplane and may be requested to operate company vehicle.
  • This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to effectively operate phones, computers, and other office equipment.
  • The individual must have the ability to communicate clearly in English to accurately convey information.
  • Work is normally performed in an office, health care setting or similar facilities, as well as other business environments. Generally, working conditions have exposure to bio-hazardous materials.
  • This position is required to follow hospital immunization, health screening, and background check requirements. Immunizations and tests will be provided by LifeCenter as required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is required to lift up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.

ANTICIPATED WEEKLY TIME COMMITMENT

This position requires on-call availability and may require evening and weekend work.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Current CTBS required.
  • Degree in related health care/science, or certification required.
    • Relevant work experience can be considered and substituted for academic requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in tissue recovery required.
  • Minimum 2 years team lead/supervisory experience required.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile for work-related functions at expected times.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster, or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer. For those that need to complete the vaccination series, start dates will be adjusted.

The pay range for this role is $86,400 - $129,600. Where a candidate’s compensation falls within this range is based on several bona fide factors such as experience, tenure, and other specialized knowledge.
