Description
The City of Spartanburg’s Information Technology Department is seeking a person to work in our Information Technology Department as a Tier 1 Desktop Support Technician. Desired candidate will be someone comfortable working inside of office environments as well as inside police and fire vehicles as well as outside environments such as parking garages, festivals etc.
Examples of Duties
- Installs, manages, and troubleshoots software issues.
- Provides helpdesk and technical support for employee desktop systems including installation of hardware, Microsoft Windows operating systems and business productivity software.
- Completes help desk tickets to meet service levels.
- Coordinates moves, adds and changes for desktop PC and phone hardware.
- Provides end user administration and support for Windows Active Directory, Windows OS, Microsoft Office.
- Sets up new users, removes old user access, and changes user access.
- Troubleshoots IT equipment and issues.
- Accesses and finds technology solutions based on user needs.
- Documents resolution to problems in helpdesk software.
- Creates documentation and instructions for IT staff and end-users.
- Coordinates the operations of print room functions, ordering supplies.
- Manages printer and copier fleet.
- Coordinates systems inventory and asset management functions.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
- Associate degree in an IT related field or 5 years of equivalent experience
- A+ certification is desired or equivalent work experience.
- Must pass CJIS course and certification if position is offered. (state provides course)
- Must pass extensive background check as well as a polygraph due to the sensitivity of access levels the position has.
