Under the direction of the Manager of Radiation Oncology and the clinical direction of the Radiation Oncology Medical Director, the therapist will perform therapeutic procedures at a technical level as outlined in the department policy and procedures manual. Provides treatment and education consistent with patient's age and cultural needs. Responds to all patient inquiries, prioritizing responses and routing urgent situations to appropriate individuals. Maintains accurate and appropriate documentation and follows patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA and Duly policies and procedures. Acts as a role model for all other care givers in coordination of patient care. Maintains a high level of initiative, dependability and motivation. Communicates effectively and exhibits sound judgement in patient safety and treats all individuals with professionalism and respect.
Responsibilities
The Journeys and Adventures that Await
- Maintains clean, safe, and professional work environment, and follows infection control procedures
- Delivers radiation treatments and performs CT simulations in accordance with physician prescriptions and department protocol.
- Working knowledge of linear accelerator and CT simulator operation.
- Assists radiation oncologist / physicist with brachytherapy procedures.
- Maintains records of treatments and doses administered according to departmental policies and procedures. Performs chart checks as required; assists physicist with record keeping.
- Consults and collaborates with other members of the health care team to assure patient needs are met and that there is effective and efficient continuity of care.
- Completes all necessary documentation including charges to assure proper billing and legal documentation.
- Will complete all other tasks as assigned.
The Experiences You Bring
- Successful completion of an accredited course study in Radiation Oncology Technology. ARRT(T) registered or meets eligibility requirements for examination. Examination must be completed within six months of eligibility.
- Licensure by State of Illinois - IEMA Division of Nuclear Safety
- Obtains continuing education credits as required.
- Maintains CPR certification.
