The DuPage County Health Department is excited to announce an opening within our Adult Outpatient Program as a Behavioral Health Therapist. This position offers therapists the opportunity to work as a team to collaborate with a wide range of programs & disciplines. Our evolving and dynamic treatment approaches aim to provide our clients with the best care they deserve.
Our Adult Outpatient program provides treatment to individuals with serious mental illness through individual & group counseling, community support, as well as psychiatric treatment. Our program is part of a larger behavioral health program that includes crisis services, adult intensive services/residential services, forensic behavioral health and substance use treatment.
Current availability exists for working out of our Southeast Public Health Center located in Westmont, IL. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM, 4-days of the week, and 10:30 AM until 7:00 PM one day per week.

- Utilizes evidence based practices to provide outpatient psychotherapeutic and counseling to individuals, families, and groups
- Manages a client caseload and maintains regular contact with clients
- Serves as advocate for primary and behavioral health care integration
- Provides diagnostic assessments and updates
- Determines frequency, duration and intensity of treatment
- Develops and maintains follow up on clients' treatment plans
- Monitors service delivery across providers including primary health, behavioral health, community health, dental and wellness recovery planning
- Supports client participation in wellness classes, group sessions, and other healthcare appointments
- Provides referrals to community resources and monitors service delivery across providers in order to promote successful whole health treatment outcomes
- Cooperates and participates in team meetings to assess client progress
- Collaborates with co-workers to assure necessary resource linkage to service
- Maintains accurate and compliant documentation and clinical records
- Develops discharge plans
- Meets established productivity standards
- Performs concurrent documentation
- Demonstrates independent judgment and discretion in making position related decisions
- Participates in emergency activities as assigned
- Maintains required training, licensure and/or certification
- Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to client privacy laws
- Demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of other ethnic groups and cultures
- Available to respond to clients and/or customers, either in person or over the phone, during assigned business hours
- May need to be available to respond to afterhours emergency calls on a rotating basis. Schedule allows for flexibility, to include days and evenings and the ability to provide services at various locations within DuPage County, in order to meet the needs of clients
- May act as lead worker
Completion of a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field, and two years of behavioral health experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
LPC or LSW (Designated positions may require LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT licensure).
Designated positions may be required to be bi-lingual, English/Spanish speaking, based upon population served.
