Job description

The GenerosityCommunications & Events Intern works independently and collaboratively withsupervisors, fellow interns and external departments. The intern is required toprovide exceptional customer service to guests. This internship requirescreativity and drive to interview community members and write new content for theweekly Lakesider newspaper as well as assisting with planning and executinggenerosity events and fundraising initiatives. The Generosity Communications& Events Internship is an opportunity for personal and professional growthin a hands-on learning environment. The internship allows for gaining animmense amount of real-world experience in the fields of communications andnon-profit fundraising.
The idealcandidate possesses excellent organization, communications and leadershipskills; maintains the ability to work in a team-oriented environment; eager tolearn new skills and sharpen existing; and is a highly self-motivatedindividual capable of meeting deadlines.
Please note: This internship runs from May13-August 17 (or later preferred). This internship also requires flexibility,as the intern is expected to workdays, some evenings and weekends, and allsummer holidays (Memorial Day weekend and Fourth of July).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES(PLUS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED):
• Write articles for blog and Lakesider newspaper.
• Provide exceptional customer service duringphone/walk-in inquiries and maintain detailed records.
• Enter confidential donor information intoRaiser's Edge database.
• Research emerging trends in fundraising andsocial media presence
• Assist with department events (pre-event, post-event,and onsite logistics, including list generation, nametags, mailings, and followup communications) such as donor recognition events, transparency events, andothers.
• Edit and update the policy and procedures manualfor the internship position.
ADDITIONALOPPORTUNITIES
• Design new content and ideas for Lakeside'ssocial media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and blog)
• Explore personal strengths with the StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment,activities and workbook.
• Design and layout of materials for thedepartment and/or events
EDUCATION
Pursuinga bachelor's degree in: Communications,Marketing, Non-Profit Administration, or a related field
