When you join Verizon

Verizon is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect around the world. We’re a human network that reaches across the globe and works behind the scenes. We anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together—lifting up our communities and striving to make an impact to move the world forward. If you’re fueled by purpose, and powered by persistence, explore a career with us. Here, you’ll discover the rigor it takes to make a difference and the fulfillment that comes with living the #NetworkLife.

At Verizon, we don't wait for the future, we build it! Join the industry leader in Network and Telecommunications Services as we embark on transforming our nation's critical communications infrastructure and the FAA's National Airspace System (NAS) network.

As a member of our FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) team, you will bring your passion, education and experience to this critical mission and interact directly with decision-makers and government staff who are tasked with ensuring the nation's air transportation system's underlying communications infrastructure is secure and always available. We are hiring skilled and energetic candidates to work alongside the best and brightest employees on a long-term career opportunity to design, build and operate the next generation NAS network supporting the busiest, most complex aerospace system in the world.

As the FAA FENS OEX Lab Lead at the Mike Moroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) and under the direction of the Test Director, you will serve as the primary technical lead for all assigned laboratory activities.

Your primary focus will be to lead and coordinate lab testing across all systems and applications, with particular specialization in TDM and safety critical communications and data services. Your testing responsibilities will include software testing, hardware testing, factory acceptance testing, integration testing, system testing, product acceptance verification, and regression testing over the life of the FAA FENS contract.

The OEX lab is part of the FAA Enterprise Network Test Bed (FeNTB), also known as development test at government site (DT-G). Other responsibilities will include:

  • Order, install, test, and maintain lab equipment.

  • Execute the FENS Development Test Procedures plan for the DT-G Lab.

  • Lead all testing activities within the lab and partner with other engineers and vendors to successfully test equipment and application functionality against required FAA specifications.

  • Calling upon your strong background with legacy TDM technologies (analog audio, serial datacom, DDS, T1s, etc), to configure and manage a wide variety of complex safety critical equipment, network equipment, and interfaces.

  • Stay on schedule with tight testing timelines, and stay in close communication with the Test Director regarding any testing issues related to system and network functionality or other problems that may affect the testing schedule.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to other lab team members particularly in the area of TDM service flow configuration, interfaces, management, and performance.

  • Engage with vendor technical support as needed to keep testing activities moving forward.

  • Work with other test engineers to plan and test new systems and functions within the lab environment.

  • Recognize, diagnose, analyze, and resolve complex system and application problems.

  • Open and maintain Program Trouble Reports (PTRs) and keep excellent records of problems, actions, and resolutions.
