SWENSON Test Center Chemist
The Test Center Chemist responsibilities include:
Determine and perform analytical methods for quantitative analysis of samples using a variety of techniques and instruments.
Select and install equipment and may design apparatus for specialized experiments.
Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
Write operating procedures and recommend new procedures and test methods.
Make appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, databases, etc.
Prepare reagents, solutions, equipment and materials used in experiments.
Maintain chemical inventories, keep records of supplies, materials and equipment, prepare requisitions as needed.
Dispose of chemicals according to guidelines.
Perform all work safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and Company standards.
Provide training and/or technical guidance to other staff.
Reports to: President
Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
5+ years experience with analytical chemistry laboratory equipment and procedures.
Ability to work independently.
Must be effective in problem solving and troubleshooting.
Ability to occasionally work weekends or odd hours as required by specific projects.
Willingness to work in close proximity to potentially harmful chemicals and equipment.
Able to perform physical duties such as, but not limited to, lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, climbing and walking.
