The Manufacturing Electrical Process Integration and Development Lab is designed to address manufacturing engineering and operational needs to support GM’s virtualization objectives. This lab will provide electrical bench equipment in support of software defined vehicles, build process strategy, and vehicle as a tester (VaaT). The purpose is to provide environments for development, evaluate, test, and integrate general assembly use cases.
This lab will assess the assembly process in which electrical components, circuits, or systems are installed and validated in a controlled laboratory environment. This testing is crucial in ensuring the functionality, performance, and reliability of vehicle electrical assembly process before it is deployed in real-world applications. The lab will collaborate with other teams in product development, manufacturing engineering and manufacturing operations to improve the overall manufacturing assembly process and quality.
The Test Automation Lead is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining modular automated test framework. KBT (key behavior test) testing of all software development. The Test Automation Lead will work closely with software development and manufacturing to assess test coverage and triage test failures. They will also work closely with similar teams across GM.
KPIs for this position can include implementation and execution of tests, efficiency of test, uptime and operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate update of bench and vehicle test framework and ensure they are ready to support planned testing/development work
- Acquire and analyze data logs for root cause identification of complex software/system issues.
- Ensure issue resolution was performed timely and properly, own and drive issues to closure
- Develop Test Automation strategy for large complex projects in AGILE like methodology
- Design Test Automation, Execution and Lead automation delivery
- Contribute to team agile planning activities and backlog prioritization and management
- Identify, verify, report software integrations issues and bugs
- Collaborate with to understand and develop strategies, frameworks relating to their emerging demands
- Drive innovation/adoption of Industry practices through investigation/institutionalization of New tools/methods/standards
- Work with the development team to understand the technologies and develop / implement automated testing tools for data comparison and transformation
Additional Description
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering
- 5+ years of work experience or equivalent
- Experience troubleshooting distributed control systems.
- Understanding of embedded software development, testing and associated tools like vehicle serial data logger tools
- Understanding of the end user’s experience with features on their vehicle
- Proactive / results driven individual with high levels of initiative to work with multiple organizations to solve integration issues.
- Working knowledge of Vehicle Development Process
- Test Automation experience
Preferred Qualifications
- AutoVal and/or Python
- Experience with instrumentation interfaces
- Demonstrates hands-on experience with automotive electrical interfaces like CAN, and LIN, experience with ethernet highly preferred.
- Experience with Unified Diagnostics Service, Vehicle Spy, network communication tools
- Experience working on problem solving through software application/tools development.
- Experience with dSPACE and XIL
- Experience with CI/CD
