What does a Territory HR Director do?
The Territory HR Director (THRD) for Territory 1 (CA, AZ, NM, NV, CO, UT, ID, OR, WA, MT, and AK) is responsible for understanding the enterprise culture and business priorities that are necessary to inform and shape the deployment of an effective Employee Experience strategy within the assigned geography. The THRD is accountable for leadership and management of the HR function, managing a staff of 5 or more HR Generalists and aligning the focus and activities of the company's people strategies, priorities and goals.
The THRD also plays a critical role influencing and co-leading the construction of an environment that fully utilizes the individual capacity of all employees. This includes helping leaders understand and uniquely engage employees at all levels while building an inclusive environment that supports diversity, retention, top performance and innovation.
The responsibilities of the THRD include the consistent application of company policies as it pertains to selection, performance management, development, and rewards. It also provides sound counsel and guidance to managers and directors in compliance with federal/state regulations.
This role supports the state of California; therefore, the ideal candidate must have prior knowledge and experience in CA labor law practices and application.
Additionally, the ideal candidate must live in one of the states listed above.
Key accountabilities include but not limited to:
Ability to analyze financial and employee metrics to determine performance, momentum and trends
Expert level understanding of the company and territory priorities, strategy and performance
Ability to build and execute an effective and cohesive talent strategy with a focus on diversity and inclusion
Provides coaching, counsel and leadership to multi-unit and store leaders
Possess a strong ability to gain knowledge and unlock capacity of individuals
Assist in building an environment that supports the direction of the business
Strong ability to proactively deliver labor related news, changes and up to date information to assist in the compliance to federal, state, local and company changes, policies and practices
Ability to build an influential partnership with business partners across the organization
What are the Professional Requirements of a Territory HR Director?
Basic Qualifications:
8 years of Supervisory/Management experience OR 8 years of Military experience inclusive of performance evaluations, coaching, training, recognition, collaborative partnerships and P&L/Budget Management
5 years of multi-unit experience in leading strategies focused on employee retention/turnover, engagement and employee & leadership development
5 years of experience in the application of Performance Management, Benefits and Compensation programs
5 years Employee Relations experience inclusive of investigation; Compliance to company, state and federal guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years of experience in practice and application of California State Labor Law
Current Human Resources certification
California HR Certification
Bachelor's Degree or higher in business or related fields
