The Department of Geography ( https://geography.indiana.edu/) at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for a tenure-Track Position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin on August 1st, 2024. We encourage applications from candidates that will complement the wide range of water-Resources and geographic information science ( GIS) expertise in the department and across the Indiana University system. These areas currently include, among others, watershed hydrology at many scales, impacts of climate change, land-atmosphere interactions, ecohydrology, and critical physical geography. This interdisciplinary approach will prepare our students with a comprehensive understanding of GIS techniques in Water Resources. It is also expected that the candidate will assist in creating a new Master's degree in GIS and Remote Sensing.
The Department of Geography values research, teaching, and service that intersects with issues of environmental justice and/or diversity and inclusivity in geography. We are especially interested in applicants with a strong commitment to mentoring, teaching, or outreach to people from diverse backgrounds (including first-generation college students, low-income students, racial and ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ+) and an interest in contributing to the Department of Geography's curricular offerings and research portfolio in ways that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
