JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Risk Management Department in the Smeal College of Business at the Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the fields of experimental, behavioral or Applied Microeconomics. Exceptionally well-qualified applicants at the associate level may also be considered.
Education and Experience
Candidates for both ranks must have earned a Ph.D. in economics or a closely related field by the position's start date. Candidates should have research experience in Experimental methods, whether with laboratory, field, or online subject pools. A solid background in microeconomic theory is valued as well. Candidates for the Assistant Professor Rank will be expected to have an active research agenda that demonstrates the candidate's potential to publish in high-quality scholarly journals. The duties of this rank will involve engaging in effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Candidates for the Associate Professor Rank will be expected to have an active research agenda that demonstrates evidence of an established reputation in scholarly achievement. The duties of this rank will involve engaging in effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Academic Environment
The Risk Management Department is home to faculty in Actuarial Science, Business Economics, Business Law, Enterprise Risk Management, International Business, and Real Estate. It houses the Laboratory for Economics Management and Auctions (LEMA), which is a laboratory environment in which the object of study can be manipulated in a controlled way.
