Position Overview

Merrimack College, located 25 miles north of Boston, is excited to announce an opportunity to take part in creating an outstanding regional research university. The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor in the areas of neuroscience or Biochemistry, beginning Fall 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue a research program that addresses neuroscience questions from a biochemical perspective, establish an externally funded research program, and direct the research of students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The successful candidate’s research efforts will be supported by Merrimack’s new Shared Instrumentation Research Facility (SIRF), a state-of-the-art life sciences research space. The SIRF is fully equipped with an array of instruments and a dedicated lab manager with a focus on supporting research in the life sciences. Merrimack College is committed to growing focused areas of research distinction that will allow faculty to make high-impact contributions in their areas of expertise. As part of our strategic plan, the Agenda for the Future, we are on the road to R2 status, and we have a long-term vision to launch Ph.D. programs in applied life sciences within the next 5 years.

Required Qualifications:

    Ph.D. in neuroscience, biochemistry, or related field.Evidence of outstanding research productivity and/or potential, as demonstrated by publications, conference presentations, grant submissions, and funding awards.Commitment to excellence in mentoring and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.


Preferred Qualifications:

    Record of extramural research funding commensurate with career stage.Consistent record of advising, supervising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.Research and teaching philosophies that align with the Merrimack’s Augustinian mission and Agenda for the Future.

Vaccinations and Work Location

This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
