Tenure Track Assistant Professor Of Game Design

Job Description:
The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position to teach a range of courses in Game Design and development, and contribute to the continuing cultivation of the Game Design major.
We are the first Game Design program in a public university in New England, a strong professional program in a liberal arts institution. Our faculty are game and interactive developers, artists, and scholars, who teach, publish, and participate with our students in conferences, professional meetups, game jams, and study abroad programs. Our curriculum provides a broad-based core foundation in Game Design focusing on collaborative development. Our game labs are outfitted with industry standard hardware and software including VR and motion capture facilities, our Game Lounge keeps a broad library of digital and analog games for student research, and our Game Studio capstone is housed in a beautifully renovated space above a 1920's downtown theater.
Depending on candidate skills & interests, courses taught may include Game Level Design, 3D Game Development, Virtual Reality Development, History of Interactive Media & Games, Game Design Workshop, Elements of Game Design (analog), Serious Games, Game Studio, or other relevant classes.
Applicants must possess a strong desire to teach in a department and institution with a strong emphasis on excellent teaching and continuation of scholarship that involves engaging and collaboration with undergraduate students.
Responsibilities include a teaching load of 4/4 per semester, student advising, continuing scholarship and service to the University community. Additional Requirements as per the MSCA contract.
Requirements:
Minimum:

• A Terminal Degree in a field related to Game Design.
• A track record of teaching excellence as evidenced by student evaluations.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.

Preferred:

• Broad knowledge of Game Design & development, experience with programming and/or scripting for games, and be engaged with making games and/or interactive media.
• Experience in related fields, such as software development, mobile, VR/AR, UI/UX, tabletop games, serious games, women in games, queer games, or other areas of art, culture & technology.
• Candidates who can teach in multiple programs.

Salary commensurate with qualifications, experience and in accordance with the MSCA Bargaining Agreement There are opportunities to teach summer, winter term, online, and undergraduate and graduate courses.
Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI) as well as a completed background check satisfactory to the university.
