Essential Job Duties:An internship with the Extension Local Food Program has the following objectives: 1. learn about career paths within Extension and relevant skills with an emphasis on community development; 2.contribute to state-level resources to build capacity for Extension agents and community partners; and 3. understand and contribute to the Program’s objective to encourage the production, marketing, and consumption of food produced in North Carolina through engagement, resource development, or other methods.
The main project for this internship will include assisting with resource curation and curriculum development for farmers market managers, specifically to begin the formation of a new non-credit certificate program. The intern will be expected to meet with Extension agents and farmers market managers, review existing resources and notes to identify commonly asked questions, make recommendations for future professional development opportunities, and begin developing resources for the curriculum. Additional projects may include assisting with the development of a cut flower and herb module for Small Farm Boot Camp, planning training sessions for Extension Agents for Fall 2024, and reviewing and drafting research based Extension publications.
